The NSPL made its first visit to Bricket Wood. Yorkies' setup was first rate and the facilities more than met expectation.

From my perspective a slight lack of rest and the big camera being abit mardy put a slight dampeners on things. However the weather was sublime and as usual the teams and marshals made the event.

Damn cold with a biting east wind to boot. Crap light cold batteries and slow autofocus, even with IS on, ISO turned up to 11 and wide open, the shutter speed was slower than I would have liked. The majority of the sketchy, blurry and plain out of focus ones have been ditched, still they are a bit grainy and needed some help. Only the warm welcome and Jon's hot grill and drinks made up for it, think I was suffering from frost stroke at some point during the day.

The rain and the wind died down, the winter sun shone mainly on the righteous. Three 15 minute first to five games followed and the old geezers gave the insolent young pups a good kicking. Conspiracy theorists are already asking who was that mysterious shooter on the grassy knoll. All we know is that the Future is bright, the Future is orange, orange with the Old School's paint ;-)

The weather was booked, the field and organisation sorted... just a shame that a small number of teams were unable to make it down.

As well as the thunderstorm which kicked in early on, I was only onsite for a few hours as I had work commitments in the afternoon so there wont be many pics this time around... normal service will be resumed.

This is my camera, there are many like it, but this one is mine, without my camera I am useless, without me - it is useless. I must shoot my camera straight and true.

Why does it say its 78 miles to get to the Freekz site, but when you get there your Odometer says youve gone 95 miles? There must be a rip in the space time doobrey. Anyway I've gone off on one of those tangents. Oh yes, Kitch I've finally gone the joke about the tents and the nukes... only took 2 days. OK, I'm done but with Kitch booking the fine weather and Angry Jon selling the burgers, we were set for another quality event down at the Freekz site.

The atmosphere amongst the british teams was amazing... and long may it continue.

Sun, sand, sea, surf and paintball.

As the temperature soared the action on field hotted up for the first round of the Millennium series 2008. The beach front location at Fuengirola, right in the heart of the Costa del Sol was fabulous, as was the atmoshere with the majority of players staying in hotels and appartments within walking distance. Unfortunately, the demons of digital photography consipred to flood my sensor with dirt at the first lens change of the weekend and, of course, I hadn't packed any cleaning equipment, so orders will be examined at 100% for dust and shadows and refinished accordingly, along with the contrast, balance, levels and sharpness tweaked where needed.

Plenty of UK teams covered, if I missed you, sorry, you were probably on the wrong field at the wrong time or I was off searching for more water. Peter.

The three hours sleep club met up at Bricketwood to celebrate the second round of the UK Masters Southern Series. The sun got its hat on and it was hip-hip-hip-hooray all day! A few techical isses meant that I couldnt quite cover everything... normal service resumes next month.

Easter Sunday, first of the Freekz Summer 5-Man Series. Well, not quite summer, with a cold start, snow flakes, sunny spells, hail storm, more sunny spells. Four seasons in one day? Well, at least three, though that didn't put a dampener on the action or the atmosphere - at least we missed the real snow and the tornado. Your intrepid horse rescuer was there to take all the weather (and the players) could throw at him.

Over the days ahead of the tournament the gods of wind and rain had jousted across the skies above. As scores of valiant warriors gathered at UCZ, the gods of paintball were awakened, the skies calmed and the precipitation receded. The mud we are used to, but no rain? Round 10 of 10 of the NSPL. D7s brings to a close the 2007 NSPL season. Its been a long and tiring season for me and my associates - thanks for all those to supported us this year!

Start: Bless the high humidity, sun, with occasional showers, Pete trekked over to Live the America dream - whilst in Britain, people awoke to an extra hours sleep and for those lucky few, a day of paintball in the blazing autumn sunshine.

I appear to have gone a bit OTT with the funny angley stuff... still makes for easier rotating of photos...

Welcome to the coverage of Timewars, which was held at Campaign Paintball.

Thanks to everyone who was involved in setting up the scenario. It was clear to see lots of effort went into the props, planning, marshalling and missions. And lastly it wouldn't of been the event it was without the players.

Light on the day was a tricky, so what we've done is left a load of "fog of war"* photos in as we recognise that even though you might not be in focus, you would still like to see yourself on the 'net.

Loads of photos of your heroes. But none of the little Japanese dude Hiro Nakamura.

Faffing about with the camera, lots of over exposed and poorly composed photos this time around. Hopefully I'll get the problems sorted out.

Based upon a ‘what if’ scenario, the game aimed to recreate what may have happened had the Germans crossed the Channel in 1940.

On sunny spring Sunday, hundreds of British tourists basked on the Spanish beaches. Meanwhile back in Dartford, 20 teams arrived at D7s to fight for NSPL honours. Photographic coverage of this event is now up. There's a few panini style doubles in there.

Syd who has been working tirelessly over the last months to bring to the south an outstanding set up and a new level of professionalism to the sport. Oh yes, feedback welcome. D7s does X-Ball Lite. Here are the photos. The early morning closure of one of the roads which leads to the site meant everyone had a unscheduled sightseeing tour of Dartford.

However once again Dave, Kathy, Mark, and team gave players the perfect playing environment to play the future of paintball today.

With the Campaign Cup now in the past, teams from around the south converged in on Reading for Leg 8 of the NSPL.

Teams arriving on site were met by yet another quality setup which should be credited to the tireless work by Syd, Mel, and the setup crew.

The weather for those who arrived initially was not brilliant but luckily for everyone Colsey brought the sunshine with him for all to share.

Weather conditions during the day we're fantastic, then it rained - but we won't into that in too much detail. Got a nice case of trench foot though.

First of all, I was not covering this event. I went down to spectate and got a bit bored in the afternoon and decided to get some practice photography in - this gallery does not constitute coverage of the event (but you are welcome to enquiry about purchasing them ;) ). There were two media people at the site on this day.

D7s does X-Ball Lite. Here are the photos. I would really love some feedback on the photos. I have padded out the gallery with some experimental shots and out of focus shots.

Heres comes the commentary...

First of all - I need feedback on the photos! Drop me a line, use the "Leave a Message" link on the left, maybe use the Comments button near the bottom of the pages?

There was bad light and rain during pretty much the entire day, making photography tricky and unpleasant. Even the camera didn't like it much (it's not waterproof - theres a hint).

The issue with soft focusing @ Reading was sorted, but due to the conditions I was still getting mostly 1/125 hand held shots @ around 400mm/F5-F5.6. Luckily the lens has IS, the last shot of day (Twisty from Quac.. Quake) is 1/80 handheld at 109mm and its in focus. Yay!

I've included some of the slightly less in focus shots to fill out the gallery a bit.

Various photos. Now with added Millenium field gives UK players a taste of European paintball right on your Dartford doorstep. I forgot to bring the "dollar" lens so used my walk around lens and have done some photoshopping to crop some of the photos.

All photos now uploaded. On a cold, wet, and sunny day in March paintballers from around the south met up to play the first leg of the NSPL. Many war stories can be told. These are the photos.

Located just abit down the road from its previous location, Dave Stewart and his team of helpers have worked hard to complete the move of the D7's site in just over 3 months.

The site comprises of three full fields, a drill area, hot food, flushing toilets, finished off with a X-Ball style tower as the centre piece.

Any team or walk-ons can are welcome use the facilities (but please phone to check availability).

On these particular days the site hosted a number of high profile UK teams.

Day 3. Campaign Cup held at the Birmingham NEC. Weather was overcast and occassionally drizzly. Not allowed onto any fields today so shot through the netting, stand police limited what I could do, but less so on field 2. Major amounts of post production have been carried out on the 'game' pictures, hence abit "bloomed". Once again, constructive comments and feedback welcome.

Day 2. Campaign Cup held at the Birmingham NEC. Weather was very wet. Goggle fan fixed, but rain meant shooting blind - kept going until the lens got condensation. Look carefully as there are some really good 'playing in the rain' shots. Once again, constructive comments and feedback welcome.

I didnt get a running order as this was a "practice" tourney. Should be pics of all the teams. Some pics here have been cropped and/or adjusted. Batteries just about held out until the game where I took a shot on the lens.

At this tournament I took an opportunity to get used to the camera and experiment with lens and shutter speeds. Light once again was a problem. Once again, constructive comments and feedback welcome.

Pictures now up. Righty, I had difficulty covering all the teams who were playing the NSPL side of things, but I tried. Yet again had a problem with the camera, which equalled lost shots and tried to catch up on some games. Problems with weather (and sleep) on Sunday meant that I called it a day. Once again I would appreiate constructive feedback.

Due to some teething problems with the camera and lens, a number of pictures came out under exposed - I have corrected the images where this has occurred.

Focusing on "action" shots this time, hence less "game" following shots.

Sorting through the pictures at the moment... pretty much done now.

Some of the pics are experimental and are on the arty side. Some pics work better than others. I would like to call them "Paintball Distilled Imagery" - you might call them "Alittle bit blurry mate".

Apart from being really tired, and seemingly busy all day I managed to get some shots done. I got kippered midday so the plan to cover more games in the afternoon went out the window.

Lighting again abit of a problem, but learn from the last time so pictures came out better. Other than that - ramble, ramble, ramble.

A cold day in February didnt stop teams attending the D7's. Problems with lighting and a new lens meant that alot of the photos lack punch.

First time out with the 300D, and looks like I forgot to change the white balance and had difficulty using the viewfinder with the JT goggles... you live and learn.
